This is the left front foot of a draft horse who is used for trails and horse camping. She wears boots occasionally, and has been barefoot for about a year. She has a good frog, some shallow concavity and well attached hoof wall. Her hooves have good balance and maintain themselves well.

The frog, appropriately, looks like it takes up most of the foot. showing some wear, as it is truly on the ground and supporting the horse.
|
 |
Showing some concavity. Not bad for a draft.

nice balanced foot. Good central sulcus, NOT coming into the hairline. Low heel.

1600 lbs! Owner trimmed with an occasional visit from me.

these three school horses work regularly giving kids lessons, on a stone dust surface, sometimes with boots, as seen here. they are sound and have a nice natural foot shape. All have been transitioned from shoes.

this is a lovely Hanoverian mare, destined to be a dressage star, seen here enjoying a rocky trail with boots on. She has never had shoes.

an older working lesson horse comes to pony club horseless rally barefoot.
